8. SELF DIAGNOSIS FUNCTIONS

8.1 ROM / RAM Check

ROM check: By performing a sum check on each ROM chip and comparing the results

of the check with speciﬁc data, it veriﬁes whether the chip is correct or not.

RAM check: By writing data into all addresses of each RAM chip and reading it from the

respective chip, it veriﬁes whether the chip is correct or not.

EEPROM check: (1) Checks the ID No. stored at a ﬁxed address.

(2) The menu area check is performed independent of the engine area

check.

Recognition of options:

Because the printer enters into the operation mode, it checks to see if the

printer is equipped with options, such as a font card.
